SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government is once again going to take up the issue of constructing airport in Spiti valley of Lahaul-Spiti district that is located close to China. Chief minister Virbhadra Singh has announced to take up the issue, which has been hanging fire for the past many years, with the Union government.
The CM accompanied by his wife and former MP from Mandi, Pratibha Singh, addressed a public meeting in Kaza on Tuesday where he said the Congress government had time and again taken up the issue for construction of airport for Kaza at Rangreek and also for expansion of other airstrips in the state.
"I am personally going to pursue the matter pertaining to construction of Rangreek airstrip with the government of India, so that Kaza airport could be made more viable both economically and technically so as to boost tourism in entire tribal and snow-bound areas of the state, besides facilitating the people," said Virbhadra.
