BHOPAL: After a long wait, two aerobridges have come to Raja Bhoj airport from Indonesia, recently. Airport authorities said they will be functional in a couple of weeks.
Passengers, who get down from an aircraft or proceed to board a plane have to take a long walk. Once aerobridges become functional, air travellers at Raja Bhoj airport will no more be required to walk down the aircraft or airport building soon after landing. The facility will allow passengers to board aircraft directly from terminal building.
Aerobridge or passenger boarding bridge is an enclosed, movable connector, which extends from an airport terminal gate to an airplane, allowing passengers to board and disembark without having to go outside.
Depending on building design, sill heights, fuelling position and operational requirements, it may be fixed or movable, swinging radially or extending in length. Currently, domestic air services, including Air India, Jet and Ventura Air-Connect are providing services at the airport.
An agency from Indonesia is installing aerobridges at the airport.
