7 Kg of Gold Seized from Airport

Seven kg of gold was seized from Kozhikode International Airport here in the past two days. Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized five kilograms of gold from two passengers on Thursday and two kilograms of gold from a passenger on Friday from the airport.
The gold is valued at `2.10 crore in market. DRI acted on a tip off on Thursday which succeeded in nabbing Kozhikode Koduvally native Kaniyarakkal Muhammadali, 33, and Kannur Payyanur native Thekkepurayil Riyas Muhammed, 28. Muhammadali and Riyas landed in the airport from Dubai in an Emirates Air flight. DRI team questioned them soon after the duo landed in the airport. They found four gold bars weighing one kilo each under the belt of Muhammadali and a gold bar weighing one kilo with Riyas.
