NAGPUR: The notice to airmen (NOTAM) at Nagpur airport, issued for the runway recarpeting work which began in December last year, will be lifted on May 15 midnight. This means that the restrictions on the usage of the runway in force till now will be over.
Though the recarpeting will be over by May 15, some minor works like levelling the sides of the runway will be carried out after this. Though a NOTAM might be issued for lesser hours then, it will not affect scheduled flights.
Following this, IndiGo will restart its flight between Nagpur and Pune from May 16. Flight 6E 134 Pune-Nagpur will depart from Pune at 11:05am to reach Nagpur at 12:20pm everyday except Saturday. Similarly, flight 6E 135 will take off from Nagpur at 12.25pm and reach Pune at 1:45pm everyday except Saturday. From May 16, the morning flight to Mumbai will be at 9am instead of 8.45am. However, the afternoon Nagpur-Mumbai flight still stands cancelled.
From Thursday, May 1, Go Air started Pune-Nagpur leg of its Pune-Nagpur-Kolkata flight. The Kolkata leg is slated to begin on May 11. The daily flight will leave from Pune at 7.35am and reach Nagpur at 8.50am. From Nagpur, it will take off at 7.15pm to reach Pune at 8.30pm. In the Kolkata leg, the flight will depart from Nagpur at 9.20am and reach Kolkata at 11am. On its return journey, it will leave Kolkata at 4.50pm to reach Nagpur at 6.45pm.
Similarly, Jet Airways morning Nagpur-Mumbai flight, which has been suspended for many days now, might restart in the first fortnight of May. A spokesperson from the airline said the flight had been suspended due to 'operational' reasons, but declined to explain them.
